This house is a very, very, very fine house.
We stopped by as Anu was putting the finishing touches to the interior design. It’s not fully completed, there was still some work going on late into the night but it was almost there!

So the guys and gals working on the 5DB were so enthusiastic about getting started that they commenced construction an hour ahead of schedule at 5AM this morning.
Work is continuing at quite the pace and the structure is already beginning to take shape.
Take a look at the photos below for a quick glimpse into what’s been done so far. More to follow…..
To see the work for yourself you can drop by any time day or night this week. We’d love to see you here!
Today, Anu gives us the down-low on all things design related for the 5 Day Build. Can she fully furnish and put all the unique design touches to the home in only 8 hours? You’ll just have to come out to the site and find out for yourself!
But knowing how experienced she is (22 years with Halminen!), it sounds like the design aspect of the build will go down without a hitch. We’ll definitely be catching up with her again during the week of the build.
Today we speak to Halminen Homes’ Dianne Linkie. She handles the accounting and production for the developer. Without her, there would be no materials to build the house!
Continuing with our interview series, we speak with Halminen Homes’ Katrina Metzner. As the developer’s architectural technologist she designed the 5 Day Build home.
So Google has a pretty handy tool called “Google Maps.” Perhaps you’ve heard of it? Maybe even spent a considerable amount of time exploring Paris or finding your home using the “Street View” tool?
Well it serves a very practical purpose too! If you’re coming from out of town to check out the 5 Day Build, this link will help you find the location of the job site. The job site is the A point on the map.
If you’re the traditional type, here are the written directions to the site:

Here’s a handy map of the Courtice, ON area for anybody who’s interested in taking a drive by or exploring the site where, in only 26 days, contractors will begin the 5 Day Build.
Curious folks coming from Toronto will want to travel east on HWY 401 and take exit 419 for Bloor St. West (RR22). Turn right at Bloor St. East and take the first right on to Wilson Rd. South. You’ll be on Wilson Rd. for about 2km. Make a right at King St. East and travel for 4.5 km and then turn left at Trulls Rd. After traveling on Trulls Rd. for just over a kilometre, you’ll have found the construction site for the 5 Day Build. It will be on your right side.
Energy Star is a standard feature on every Halminen detached home and when the 5 day build project is finished, the new home will be no exception.
A five day deadline is no excuse to cut corners on money-saving and environmentally friendly features for the home.
Energy Star features for every Halminen home include insulation upgrades, efficient heating and sealed ducts for better air distribution. An efficient heating system guarantees that energy won’t be wasted during the winter months. This will save money on energy bills and conserve energy. These features also ensure that the home will always be the perfect temperature, regardless of the heat wave or snowstorm occurring outside.
